A major milestone for East India’s creative community was celebrated today with the grand opening of Twilight Post, the region's first state-of-the-art visual effects (VFX) studio, situated in New Town, Kolkata. The inauguration was a significant event, featuring the esteemed industry veteran Ashish Kulkarni, a key figure in the development of the Indian animation and VFX sectors, along with noted industry journalist and producer Ritto Prabu.

The story of Twilight Post is one of ambition, resilience, and a deep-rooted connection to Bengal. Founded in 2022 by Abhishek Ghorui, a VFX veteran with a remarkable track record at top studios like MPC, Prana Studios, and Digital Domain—where he worked on Oscar-winning films such as "The Jungle Book" and "Life of Pi"—Twilight Post began in a humble 200-square-foot garage in Salt Lake, Kolkata.

Returning to his roots, Ghorui faced the challenge of finding a platform that would allow him to leverage his extensive experience. Many doubted his vision in those early days, but Ghorui found support in a dedicated team of ten passionate individuals: Jayita Majumder, Dipanjan Mitra, Abhrajit Ganguly, Sayak Bose, Debabrata Das, Koustav Sarkar, Abhijit Das, Sankha Subhra Ghosh, Sandip Naskar, and Pinky Bhandari. Together, they delivered exceptional quality work that gradually built Twilight Post’s reputation in the industry.

Fast forward to today, and Twilight Post has transformed dramatically. Now operating from a sprawling 10,000-square-foot facility, this growth is a testament to the hard work and dedication of Ghorui and his team. The expansion strengthens Twilight Post's position in the animation, visual effects, gaming, comics, and extended reality (AVGC-XR) sectors, significantly contributing to the VFX landscape in Eastern India.

The studio's inauguration ceremony was attended by key figures from the Bengal AVGC-XR community, including president Subrata Roy, vice president Niloy Kanti Biswas, secretary Sayan Ghosh, and treasurer Ramesh Kr Ruia. They collectively highlighted the significance of this development for the region's creative economy.

Twilight Post is not just about growth; it’s also committed to fostering local talent. The studio aims to provide opportunities for artists not only from Bengal but also from neighboring states like Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, and the North East. Situated in a region rich in cinematic history—home to legends like Satyajit Ray, Mrinal Sen, and Rwitwick Ghatak—Ghorui envisions a vibrant creative ecosystem that empowers artists and aspires to bring an Oscar back to Bengal. With its ambitious goals and commitment to excellence, Twilight Post is set to solidify the region’s status on the global VFX stage.
