PM Modi Praises Animation Industry in ‘Mann Ki Baat’

In the latest edition of his "Mann Ki Baat" radio program, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a moment to shine a spotlight on India’s rapidly growing animation industry, envisioning a future where India becomes a global powerhouse in animation, visual effects, gaming, and extended reality (AVGC-XR).

Speaking in the 115th episode, Modi shared his belief that India is poised to lead a revolution in this space, celebrating how far Indian animation has come in recent years. “India is on the way to bringing a revolution in the field of animation,” he said. “Our gaming space is also growing rapidly, and Indian games are now famous worldwide.”

From mobile screens to cinema, gaming consoles to VR experiences, the PM highlighted that animation is everywhere and that Indian creations are leaving a mark. He spotlighted homegrown successes like "Chhota Bheem", "Motu Patlu", "Krishna", and "Bal-Hanuman" — characters that have struck a chord globally, showcasing India's creative reach. The Prime Minister also applauded the contributions of Indian talent in major Hollywood productions, mentioning VES award-winning filmmaker Harinarayan Rajeev, who has worked on "Spider-Man", "Transformers", "House of the Dragon", and more.

Modi praised the collaboration between Indian studios and major players like Disney and Warner Brothers, underscoring how “Indian talent is becoming a significant part of foreign productions.”

Recalling his recent interactions with leading Indian gamers, the PM said he was struck by their creativity and innovation, which are driving India’s gaming industry to global prominence. There’s an unmistakable “wave of creative energy” in the country, he said, with "Made in India" content shining on the world stage.

He also acknowledged the influence of Indian youth in creating original, culturally rooted content. “Today, our youth are creating Indian content that reflects our culture, and it’s being watched worldwide. Animation has become a powerful industry supporting many others,” Modi emphasized.

Modi touched on another innovative application of animation and XR: VR-Tourism. He spoke of VR experiences for iconic Indian sites like the Ajanta Caves, Konark Temple, and the Ghats of Varanasi, where viewers can immerse themselves in these historical locations created by Indian artists and developers.

His encouragement signals huge support for India’s AVGC-XR sector, motivating the industry to continue its growth and solidify India’s place as a global leader in animation and beyond.
