France's The Yard VFX Expands Operations to the UK
The Yard VFX, a leading independent French visual effects studio, has officially opened its doors in London, marking a major step in its global expansion. With this move, the studio is looking to bring its unique blend of French creativity and international production expertise to the heart of the UK’s thriving film and television industry.
Founded in Paris in 2014, The Yard has made waves in the VFX world, working on high-profile projects like *Paramount’s Halo* Season 2, *John Wick: Chapter 4*, and Netflix’s upcoming film *Damsel*. Their impressive portfolio also includes winning the 2023 Cesar Award (France's equivalent of the Oscars) for Best Visual Effects in *Notre Dame on Fire*, along with a 2024 Emmy nomination for *All The Light We Cannot See*, directed by Shawn Levy.
Laurens Ehrmann, founder and senior VFX supervisor at The Yard, explained why London was the natural choice for their expansion: “London is a dynamic hub for the global creative industry, and we’re excited to bring our French flair and global experience to this market. With our new London studio, we aim to blend the best of French artistry with the incredible talent and vibrant creative scene of the UK.”
The new studio will act as a key extension of their Paris headquarters, allowing them to collaborate more closely with UK-based production companies, filmmakers, and agencies. Plus, with the UK offering attractive tax incentives for film, high-end TV, and animation projects, clients can stretch their budgets further while still accessing some of the best VFX talent around.
Ehrmann emphasized that this expansion is part of a broader strategy: “We see this as a natural progression in our journey. Our goal is to build a bridge between Paris and London, merging our international expertise with local insights to create cutting-edge visual effects. The UK’s vibrant talent pool, including many French artists, has long drawn us in. Our London studio will empower international clients to achieve top-tier visual effects while taking advantage of the UK’s competitive tax incentives.”
With their signature combination of creative excellence and financial efficiency, The Yard’s London studio is poised to become a major player in the UK’s VFX scene, taking the studio to new heights and bringing their award-winning skills to even more international productions.
