Milk Set to Launch VFX Studio in Ireland
Award-winning VFX studio Milk is expanding its horizons with the exciting announcement of a new studio opening in Dublin, aiming to establish itself as a leading player in the Irish VFX market.
At the helm of this new venture will be Milk’s own VFX Supervisor and Dublin native, Ciaran Crowley. With an impressive track record that includes notable projects like 'Inception', 'The Dark Knight', and the 'Harry Potter' series, Ciaran brings a wealth of experience to the role. His recent work at Milk includes BAFTA-nominated 'Cursed' for Netflix, 'Me Time' for Netflix, 'Catherine Called Birdy' from Amazon/Working Title, and 'Swagger' on Apple TV.
The Dublin studio is set to harness local talent while also leveraging Milk’s cutting-edge creative technology and resources. This new hub will collaborate on significant projects, including Loud Minds’ ambitious eight-part NBC series 'Surviving Earth', as well as various feature films and episodic projects within the Milk network.
This announcement follows the recent launch of Milk France and aligns with the company’s strategic plans to enhance its European presence and tap into local talent. It also comes on the heels of Milk's acquisition of the award-winning Soho-based VFX studio, Lola Post Production, last October, which underscores its commitment to expanding capabilities and creativity across a diverse range of episodic and film projects. This includes critically acclaimed works like Sony/TriStar’s 'The Woman King', the highly anticipated second season of Amazon’s 'Good Omens', and Warner Bros.' 'Meg 2'.
Jag Mundi, Milk’s Executive Chairman, expressed enthusiasm about the new Dublin studio, stating, “As part of our plans to build a European presence, we’re delighted to be opening our own Milk studio for business in Dublin. Milk has placed work within the Irish marketplace for several years, and we believe this is the natural next step to make a full commitment. Ciaran is an exceptional leader with a deep understanding of the local market and its talent. We see the studio developing into a full-service facility, mirroring the capabilities and culture of Milk London while leveraging work from our existing network of VFX businesses.”
Ciaran Crowley himself is thrilled about the opportunity to set up a studio in his hometown. “Ireland has a wealth of incredible talent, and elevating our long-standing involvement in the Irish VFX industry will allow us to produce premium, high-quality film and episodic content for our clients. It will also support the ongoing development of skills within Ireland as a significant center for the VFX industry.”
The Dublin studio will be designed with a focus on next-generation VFX solutions for both on-set and in-house work. Ciaran emphasizes that the studio will be client, artist, and technology-driven from the outset, with the goal of delivering high-end and complex projects as it grows.
With these ambitious plans, Milk is poised to make a significant impact in the Irish VFX landscape, and we can’t wait to see the creative projects that emerge from this new studio!
