Milk Unveils New VFX Studio in Dublin and Strengthens Leadership Team
After making headlines last year, award-winning VFX studio Milk has officially opened its Dublin location at the historic Grafter – Ely House, right in the heart of Dublin’s VFX and post-production hub. As part of their ongoing expansion, Milk has also bolstered its leadership team with a key hire, marking an exciting chapter for the studio.
Milk has long been engaged with the vibrant VFX scene in Ireland, and their new Dublin studio is ideally located in a Georgian building within Dublin 2, surrounded by the pulse of the industry. They’re kicking off with a major project: the NBC series ''Surviving Earth'', a co-production with UK Indie Loud Minds and Universal Television Alternative Studio. Milk will bring prehistoric creatures and environments to life with cutting-edge VFX under the guidance of creative director Tim Haines.
Leading the Dublin team is Donal Nolan, appointed as Creative Head of Studio. Donal is no stranger to high-profile VFX work, having recently won an Irish Film and Television Award (IFTA) for his work on ''The Woman King'', a project close to Milk’s heart. His career includes an impressive list of credits from major productions like 'Thor' (Marvel), ''The Siege of Jadotville'' (Netflix), and 'Doctor Strange' (Disney), to classics like 'V for Vendetta' and multiple 'Harry Potter' films. Donal brings years of experience from global studios and a deep passion for building creative teams, making him the perfect fit for this new venture.
Milk’s expansion into Dublin is just one part of its growing network, following the opening of studios in Bordeaux and Barcelona. The addition of the Dublin studio will allow Milk to tap into Ireland’s rich pool of VFX talent and offer even more to their global clients.
Jag Mundi, Milk’s Executive Chairman, couldn’t be more excited: “Ireland’s VFX industry is booming, and we’re thrilled to be part of it. With our expanding network of studios, we’re in a great position to access and develop talent across Europe, offering even more to our clients.”
Ciaran Crowley, VFX Supervisor, echoed that enthusiasm: “I’ve worked with Donal for years, and I know his passion and expertise will be instrumental in building a strong studio in Ireland. We’ll be delivering top-tier feature films and episodic projects, working hand in hand with our teams in London and across Europe.”
Donal Nolan is equally excited to lead this new chapter: “I’m honored to take on the role of Creative Head of Studio here in Dublin. Milk has big plans for growth, and I’m thrilled to help drive that forward. There’s incredible energy and talent here in Ireland, and I can’t wait to see what we can create together.”
Milk’s VFX division has been on a roll, with credits including 'The Woman King', 'The Swimmers', Netflix’s 'Bodies', 'Good Omens', 'Citadel', and Warner Bros’ 'Meg 2: The Trench'. Founded in 2013 by a passionate team of VFX supervisors and producers, Milk has won numerous accolades, including BAFTAs and an Emmy. They’ve cemented their reputation as one of the top creative forces in the VFX industry, with co-owner Sara Bennett even taking home an Oscar for her work on 'Ex-Machina'.
With the new Dublin studio and an enhanced leadership team, Milk is ready to continue its tradition of delivering groundbreaking visual effects across the globe.
