Autodesk to Unveil AI-Powered Workflows at SIGGRAPH 2024
Autodesk is set to showcase its cutting-edge AI-powered workflows, including Flow Generative Scheduling and new features for Maya and Flame, at SIGGRAPH 2024. These innovations will be highlighted in the Autodesk Vision Series sessions and demonstrated at their booth (#409) during the event.
A standout feature, ''Flow Generative Scheduling'', promises to revolutionize production planning. This AI-driven tool streamlines the creation of complex project schedules by dynamically adjusting to shifting variables like deadlines, budgets, and team availability. It allows teams to quickly evaluate multiple schedule scenarios, optimize resources, and make faster, more informed decisions—helping them stay on budget and on time. Integrated with Flow Production Tracking (formerly ShotGrid), this new feature brings a seamless, collaborative workflow to the production process.
Mimi Hoang, VP of Production Management & Platform at Autodesk, shared her excitement, saying, "Flow Production Tracking has been the backbone of VFX workflows for years. Now, with Flow Generative Scheduling, we’re giving creative teams a tool to plan more efficiently and experiment with different scenarios without impacting live projects. It’s a game-changer.”
Autodesk’s recent acquisition of Wonder Dynamics brings further AI capabilities to ''Maya'' and ''Flame''. Maya’s new ''ML Deformer'' uses machine learning to simplify complex deformation systems in characters, enabling artists to work faster and more interactively on animation, VFX, and game projects. Meanwhile, Flame introduces ''ML Timewarp'', a tool that generates intermediate frames for retiming clips, delivering high-quality renders without the need for costly file transfers between multiple tools.
Autodesk’s Media & Entertainment VP, Eric Bourque, emphasized the value of AI in boosting creativity, stating, “With AI tools, we’re giving artists the freedom to focus more on their creative ideas and less on repetitive tasks. This opens up a world of new possibilities.”
Attendees at SIGGRAPH 2024 will also get a firsthand look at the latest versions of ''Maya'' and ''3ds Max'', both featuring improvements in modeling, animation, simulation, and rendering. Autodesk will be hosting presentations from top industry studios like Rising Sun Pictures, Rodeo FX, and Weta FX during their Vision Series, which runs from July 30-31.
''SIGGRAPH 2024'' will take place from July 28 to August 1 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, showcasing the latest trends and technologies in animation, production, design, and gaming. Be sure to stop by the Autodesk booth or attend the Vision Series to see how AI is transforming the future of creative workflows!
